Transformation Driving Performance
MMC Ports’ strong performance was driven by targeted transformation and capacity building initiatives implemented across its port network over the last few years.
At PTP, expansion efforts progressed with the development of Berth Zero, supporting future capacity growth. The terminal deployed 11 new ultra-large container vessel cranes and 41 new electric rubber-tyred gantry cranes in 2025, and is acquiring 52 electric prime movers (terminal trucks) for delivery in 2026. Operational efficiency was further enhanced through the implementation of the Terminal Truck Optimisation solution, resulting in a 13% reduction in overall truck turnaround time.
At Northport, the capital expenditures incurred in the last three (3) years which added 1,192,236 TEUs yard capacity and 46 RTGs has led to an increase in productivity.
At Johor Port, two (2) liquid jetties to accommodate vessels up to 120,000 Deadweight Tonnage was commissioned with the completion of BT13 and BT14, significantly enhancing liquid bulk handling capacity and operational efficiency. In addition to that, Johor Port also commissioned two (2) new quay cranes and three (3) Containers Reach Stackers further reinforcing its role as the Southern Gateway Multi-Purpose Port, supporting regional trade and economic development.
At Penang Port, the deployment of four (4) new hybrid Rubber-Tyred Gantry (“RTG”) cranes significantly boosted operational productivity while reinforcing the port’s commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.
Northport, a port operator under the MMC Ports Group, recorded a record-breaking year, achieving its highest-ever annual container throughput of 3.80 million TEUs and its highest conventional cargo throughput at 12.90 million FWTs.
