Port Hedland September 2025 Iron Ore Exports Slightly Lower

Pilbara Ports delivered a total monthly throughput of 68.5 million tonnes (Mt) for September 2025.

This throughput is a three per cent increase compared to September 2024.

The Port of Port Hedland achieved a monthly throughput of 49.4Mt, of which 48.6Mt was iron ore exports. This was a one per cent decrease to total throughput compared to September 2024.

Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 214,000 tonnes, a decrease of five per cent compared to September 2024.

The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 15.1Mt. This figure is consistent with the total monthly throughput in September 2024.

Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 107,000 tonnes, a decrease of 26 per cent from September 2024.

The Port of Ashburton delivered a total throughput of 4.1Mt. This is an increase of 179 per cent compared to September 2024.

Several factors influence the fluctuation of throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations and proponent needs.
