Deputy Minister of Development Andriy Kashuba reported that this significant volume – transported through the ports of Izmail, Reni, and Ust-Dunaysk – helped alleviate the congestion at land checkpoints and bolstered Ukraine’s export capabilities. However, increased attacks on the Danube ports and nearby cities have caused disruptions in the power system and imposed significant restrictions on port operations.

According to Kashuba, the Danube logistics route remains a critically important backup export channel for Ukraine, showcasing its strategic value. Large cargo owners are continuously planning to reorient their shipments to Danube ports, making it an essential asset in ensuring stability, security, and smooth operations even amid ongoing attacks.

Additionally, representatives from Ukraine, the European Commission, Romania, and Moldova discussed the need to strengthen regional cooperation and explore further steps to attract European funding for the restoration and development of port infrastructure in the Danube region, in order to maintain logistics stability.
