CEVA Logistics, a global leader in third-party logistics, continues to develop new low carbon transport offerings with today’s announcement of the addition of wind-powered offerings into its CEVA FORPLANET suite of low carbon and circular economy solutions. The innovative services are designed for customers seeking more sustainable shipping solutions for shipments to and from North America, South America and the French West Indies.
CEVA aims to offer its customers concrete solutions for decarbonizing transport and is taking a step forward by expanding its maritime transport offering with wind-powered solutions.
CEVA offers both LCL and FCL freight loading capacity, as well as palletized cargo, on various transatlantic routes using wind-powered vessels. These services are developed with performance and sustainability in mind, and are available for all types of goods, including temperature-controlled freight, hazardous materials and oversized cargo.
By relying on several leading wind-powered carriers, CEVA offers the transatlantic flows, whether via spot or regularly scheduled routes, with transit times ranging from 10 to 18 days depending on the destination.
Several routes are available:
For a low carbon end-to-end journey, CEVA combines maritime transport with pre- and post-carriage operations carried out in multimodal transport (rail and barge) or in low emission trucks.
Wind propulsion: a sustainable solution to meet the challenges of maritime transport
As the maritime transport sector faces increasing pressure to decarbonize its operations, wind propulsion offers a reduction in CO₂e emissions of up to 90% compared to conventional transport, depending on the wind technology used. Concrete examples of maritime innovation, including new vessels designed around this renewable energy source, enable service to secondary ports where port operations are quicker and offer competitive end-to-end transit times by reducing last mile transport.
CEVA FORPLANET: more sustainable logistics solutions
CEVA is expanding its FORPLANET offering through the new wind-powered maritime solutions, demonstrating its commitment to integrating innovations and alternative solutions that contribute to lower carbon logistics.
The CEVA FORPLANET suite of logistics solutions offers a range of low carbon and circular economy offers that enable customers to reduce the environmental impact of their supply chains. It includes solutions for measurement, optimization, modal shift and the use of alternative fuels for air, sea and road transport, as well as circular economy offers, including waste, reusable packaging and reverse logistics solutions.
Benoît Tinetti, Global CSR Director, CEVA Logistics, said: “With environmental challenges greater than ever, it is our responsibility as a logistics provider to promote innovative solutions and integrate transport options into our offering that contribute to the decarbonization of our customers’ supply chains. These new wind-powered maritime transport services are part of our commitment to net zero by 2050 and illustrate our ongoing commitment to ‘Acting for the Planet,’ one of the three pillars of our CSR strategy.”
