Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF has agreed to sell one of its cable-laying vessels to South Korean cable maker Taihan Cable & Solution.
The 2016-built cable layer Skandi Connector will be the second cable layer in Taihan’s fleet and South Korea overall, alongside the 2010-built Palos. According to DOF, the vessel is planned to be delivered to the new owners in the third quarter of 2026. Financial details were not revealed by either company.
“The sale of the Skandi Connector is in line with our long-term strategy to focus on our core offering of integrated subsea services,” said Mons Aase, CEO of DOF Group.
With the acquisition, the South Korean firm has strengthened its capabilities in both intra-array and export cable installation for offshore wind projects, while also establishing a system capable of executing long-distance interconnections and HVDC transmission networks.
By operating two CLVs, Taihan has established a dual-track installation system that enables optimal vessel deployment depending on project characteristics and installation environments.
