Ignitis Renewables gets new chief executive

Ignitis Group subsidiary Ignitis Renewables has appointed Frank Oomen as its new chief executive officer.

Oomen is a senior executive with a strong track record in renewables with over 15 years of leadership experience in various energy companies, including BP, GroenLeven, Eneco Wind & Solar, and SSE Renewables.

The new Ignitis Renewables CEO will be starting his five-year term from September 1, 2025.

He will be taking over the role abandoned by previous CEO Thierry Aelens at the end of January. To ensure a seamless transition and maintain business continuity, Gary Bills, the company’s chief operating officer, has been working as the interim CEO since March 31.

The primary task for the new CEO is to push towards achieving the company’s strategy goals, namely, to increase its green capacities from 1.4GW in 2024 to 4-5GW by 2030.
