Seaway7, the renewables arm of Subsea 7, has been awarded a sizeable contract by Ocean Winds for the BC-Wind project in the Baltic Sea, strengthening its position in Poland’s fast-moving offshore wind market.
The project site lies about 23 km off the Polish coast and will host 26 wind turbine generators. Under the deal, Seaway7 will handle the transport and installation of 26 transition pieces and the project’s offshore substation. Offshore work is due to begin in 2027.
For Seaway7, the award marks its third offshore wind contract in Poland, where developers continue to accelerate activity ahead of the country’s 2030 targets. “We are looking forward to supporting Ocean Winds on the BC-Wind project and being able to continue contributing to the Polish offshore wind targets with our third contract award in this market,” said CEO Stuart Fitzgerald.
Ocean Winds — the joint venture between EDP and Engie — recently secured around €2bn in project financing and reached financial close for BC-Wind, clearing the way for construction. The wind farm is expected to deliver first power in 2028 and, once fully operational, supply clean electricity to nearly half a million Polish households.
