
COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd. concluded the year with an order for four new vessels, ushering in 2026.
In a regulatory disclosure, the Shanghai-listed company said it has placed an order for the construction of four multi-purpose heavy lift vessels at CSSC Chengxi Shipyard.
According to the announcement on January 1, following approval at the fifth meeting of the ninth board of directors of COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary will serve as the investment entity to invest in the construction of four 40,000-dwt multi-purpose heavy lift vessels.
The first vessel is scheduled for delivery in June 2028 or earlier, with the remaining vessels scheduled for delivery before the end of February 2029.
COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers stated that in recent years, the rapidly expanding wind power market has generated a large demand for maritime transport.
The heavy lift newbuildings were ordered against the backdrop of a robust wind power market.
