Hanwha Ocean secures two VLCC orders from Oceania, boosting Korea shipbuilding

Hanwha Ocean said on Apr. 9 it won an order worth 393.3 billion won from a shipowner in Oceania for two very large crude carriers (VLCCs). The vessels will be built and delivered by Jan. 4, 2030.

Hanwha Ocean said the order is based on a repeat design with a proven construction record, securing efficiency across design, procurement, and production processes, and is therefore expected to help expand profitability.

Including this order, Hanwha Ocean has so far logged orders for a total of 15 vessels—10 VLCCs, four liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, and one wind turbine installation vessel (WTIV)—worth about $2.84 billion (about 4.2066 trillion won).
