HD Korea Shipbuilding secures 2.13t won orders for ships, lifts 2024 tally

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering said on the 8th it signed construction contracts for six container ships and two very large gas carriers (VLGCs). The total order value is 2.1308 trillion won.

The six container ships were contracted with an Asian shipping company for 1.7787 trillion won, and the two VLGCs were contracted with an Oceania shipping company for 352.1 billion won, respectively.

All the vessels will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered by 2029.

With this order, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured a total of $10.81 billion (94 ships), achieving 46.4% of its annual order target of $23.31 billion.

By ship type, the tally is 26 container ships, 26 petroleum product carriers (PCs), 20 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, 12 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 7 crude oil carriers, 2 car carriers (PCTCs), and 1 icebreaker.
