HD Korea Shipbuilding secures six VLAC orders worth 1.08 trillion won

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate shipbuilding holding company of HD Hyundai, said on the 21st it signed a construction contract with a Europe-based shipowner for six very large ammonia carriers (VLAC).

The total order value is 1.0782 trillion won. The ships will be built at HD Hyundai Samho and delivered by the second half of 2029.

With this contract, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured orders for a total of 104 ships this year worth $12.54 billion, achieving 53.8% of its annual target of $23.31 billion.

By ship type, the orders include 16 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 26 container ships, 26 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, 7 crude oil carriers, 26 petroleum/chemical product carriers (PC), 2 car carriers (PCTC), and 1 other.
