HD Korea Shipbuilding wins 748.5b-won LNG carrier deal, lifts 2024 tally

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate shipbuilding holding company of HD Hyundai, said on the 13th that it signed a construction contract with a North American shipping company for two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers.

The total order value is 748.5 billion won. The LNG carriers ordered this time will be built by HD Hyundai Samho and delivered by the second half of 2029.

Including this order, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured a total of $11.32 billion across 96 ships to reach 48.6% of its annual order target of $23.31 billion.

By ship type, the company won orders for 14 LNG carriers, 26 container ships, 20 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, 7 crude oil carriers, 26 petrochemical product carriers (PC ships), 2 pure car and truck carriers (PCTC), and 1 other vessel.
