HD Hyundai Samho is accelerating the construction of a future shipyard based on humanoid robot and logistics automation technology to create a sustainable shipbuilding ecosystem.

The shipbuilder announced on Sept. 15 that it signed a business agreement for development of humanoid and logistics automation technology for safe process operation and efficiency with LG CNS and HD Hyundai Robotics at its panel factory. The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Jae-eul, CEO of HD Hyundai Samho, Hyun Sin-kyun, CEO of LG CNS, Kim Wan-soo, CEO of HD Hyundai Robotics, and officials from HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.

HD Hyundai Samho expects that through this technology development, it will be able to realize automation of complex welding, assembly, outfitting, and inspection processes beyond the limitations of existing automated equipment and collaborative robots, ensuring the safety of on-site workers and improving productivity. Since the launch of its Automation Innovation Center in 2022, HD Hyundai Samho has been actively pursuing the introduction of collaborative robots and underwater hull cleaning robots to build a future shipyard through the replacement of high-risk work and productivity improvement.

LG CNS has secured global competitiveness in physical AI implementation technology, including the construction of an integrated management system and infrastructure using large language models. HD Hyundai Robotics possesses robot-based solutions and optimal motion control technology verified in shipbuilding sites.

The CEO of HD Hyundai Samho emphasized, “We will lead the construction of a future shipyard that can innovate safety, quality, and productivity through the expanded application of AI and robot technology in the field.”
