Torghatten AB signs contract with Työvene Oy for two fully electric passenger vessels | Shipyard news

The ferry company Torghatten AB has signed a contract with Finnish shipbuilder Työvene Oy for the building of two fully electric passenger vessels that will operate on Sweden’s west coast between Strömstad and Koster Islands.

The Norwegian ship design company Multi Maritime has been awarded the design contract for the two passenger vessels that will set new standards for sustainable maritime transport in the region.

The two ordered passenger vessels will meet stringent safety and sustainability requirements while enhancing the travel experience for up to 248 passengers.

According to Multi Maritime, the vessel design features highly efficient hull lines that minimize energy consumption and emissions, enabling 100% electric operation within the available charging facilities and turnaround times.

The vessels are designed for EU Class D sea areas and is to be classed by DNV.
