Tsakos newbuild suezmax tanker chartered to energy major

The Greek flag was raised on the newly built suezmax tanker Silia T as Tsakos Shipping and Trading S.A. continues its dynamic course. The company’s fleet renewal program is progressing rapidly, following the delivery on October 1 of a new vessel from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea.

Tsakos Shipping and Trading announced with particular pride the delivery of the new vessel, which has already secured a long-term employment contract with a major energy company.

“The vessel proudly sails under the Greek Flag, is classed with Lloyd’s Register, and has been delivered ex-yard to a major Energy company under a long-term employment contract,” the company’s statement reads.

The newly built tanker, with a capacity of 156,833 dwt, is the fourth vessel delivered to the Group this year.

The ship is part of the company’s fleet renewal strategy and newbuilding program of 23 vessels, scheduled for delivery by the end of 2028.

It is a ship whose design incorporates advanced technical features to meet the most rigid requirements and standards of our charterers, the Greek shipowner said in a post on LinkedIn.
