Denmark’s Alba Tankers has seen the change of ownership with fellow ship investment vehicle Zeaside Capital Partners taking control of the shortsea specialist as it looks to build a broader tanker business.
The deal sees Zeaside partner with a group of Danish and international investors to take over Alba, which operates out of Denmark, Sweden and Poland. The move gives the Copenhagen-based investment firm an immediate foothold in the European market for chemical and clean petroleum product tankers.
Founded in 2015, Alba runs a fleet focused on vessels below 20,000 dwt, trading petroleum products, chemicals and vegetable oils. The company is headquartered in Denmark, with its commercial team based in Gothenburg.
Zeaside, launched in 2024 by Jan Eghøj, Aaron Sen and Lars Steffensen, has been building its shipping exposure over the past year. Eghøj has worked for a variety of German and Danish shipowners over the past 25 years, while Sen’s career has included stints at Nord/LB and Seaspan, and Steffensen is known for his time spent at Clarksons and Maersk Broker.
Since mid-2025, the outfit has co-invested in four ice-class tankers and by adding Alba’s nine vessels and its commercial platform, the investor said the move gives it a base to scale further.
“We see potential for further market consolidation, and our door is open for cooperation,” the company said.
As part of the deal, Zeaside will become the largest shareholder and has lined up Eghøj to lead Alba’s business going forward.
