Hanwha Ocean tasks GTT with tank design for seven LNG vessels

South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean shipyard has put France’s technological containment specialist Gaztransport & Technigaz (GTT) in charge of designing tanks for seven new liquefied natural gas carriers (LNGCs).

Thanks to an order from Hanwha Ocean, GTT will design the cryogenic tanks of the vessels, each of which will offer a total capacity of 174,000 cubic meters (cbm) on behalf of a European ship-owner.

The delivery of these vessels, which will be fitted with the NO96 Super+ membrane containment system that the French player developed, is expected between 2028 and 2029.

The latest order comes months after Hanwha Ocean hired GTT to come up with tank designs for two more liquefied natural gas carriers.
