Navios Maritime adds to South Korean boxship newbuild series

Greece’s Navios Maritime Partners is ramping up its exposure in the container shipping sector with a fresh order for four modern boxships at South Korea’s HJ Shipbuilding & Construction.

The Angeliki Frangou-led company is understood to have signed for four 8,000 teu vessels, in a deal valued at approximately $440m, building on its prior orderbook at the same yard.

Delivery of the new quartet is scheduled for 2027, with shipbuilding brokers in Greece indicating the ships will be dual-fuel-ready and fitted with scrubbers.

Navios Partners operates more than 170 vessels, of which 46 are boxships.

The new order comes as a direct extension of the company’s existing series at the shipyard formerly known as Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, where it had already secured six 7,900 teu vessels. Four of those are slated to begin delivery in 2026, continuing through the first half of 2027 and are tied to long-term charters.
