Shelf Drilling wins rig extension from Eni

United Arab Emirates-based jackup rig pure-play Shelf Drilling has won an extension for one of its rigs.

Italian energy giant Eni awarded a one-year extension to the 1980-built Key Manhattan. Work under the extension will start in direct continuation of its current contract.

The total added contract value is approximately $29m, and the rig is now committed until November 2026 with one year of additional options.

The rig has been working for Eni off the coast of Italy since November 2023. The rig will stop work in August and be out of service until September when it will resume work for the Italian firm.

Including this latest extension, Shelf Drilling secured three new deals for its rigs over the past week. The two previous ones were a five-year contract extension with Saudi Aramco for its High Island V unit and a three-year contract for the J.T. Angel from India’s ONGC.
