New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has selected Australia’s engineering company Worley as client engineer and technical advisor for the development of the country’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) import terminal.

Worley will support the ministry through the procurement and delivery phases of the LNG import terminal by providing independent technical advice, specification development and engineering guidance.

This includes helping shape the project’s technical foundations, supporting a transparent and robust procurement process, and offering proportionate technical assurance during delivery to help manage key risks and maintain project progress.

Worley said that its support will scale in line with the program’s needs, from early procurement activities through to execution and commissioning readiness.

As for other recent news, Worley announced earlier this month that it had secured an assignment at a carbon dioxide (CO2) LNG sequestration project in Qatar, which is run by QatarEnergy. The Australian firm will provide detailed engineering services to Samsung C&T, with the work being executed from the firm’s Qatar office, supported by its Global Integrated Delivery center in India and additional expertise from teams in Australia.
