ESL Shipping, together with its parent company Aspo, has become a key partner of the John Nurminen Foundation to support the protection of the Baltic Sea. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to developing sustainable maritime infrastructure for the future and reducing environmental load to the sea.
“Operating on the Baltic Sea comes with a responsibility to safeguard its future. We want to be at the forefront of developing sustainable maritime solutions, and this collaboration complements our long-term investments in reducing emissions and enhancing resource efficiency. Working together with John Nurminen Foundation allows us to contribute to proven, impactful projects in our home region,” says Kirsi Ylärinne, Environmental & Sustainability Director of ESL Shipping.
“Our small and shallow sea is suffering from the effects of eutrophication and climate change faster than the world’s oceans, which is why swift and effective action is needed. We thank Aspo for supporting our work to protect the sea. These donations make it possible for us to continue our vital work,” says Annamari Arrakoski-Engardt, CEO of the John Nurminen Foundation.
The partnership will support the Foundation’s mission to protect the Baltic Sea and preserve its cultural heritage for future generations throughout 2026.
