ZESTAs is proud to welcome Grafmarine, whose NanoDeck® photovoltaic (PV) platform adds a new layer of real-world capability to the Absolute Zero technology landscape. Their system brings intelligence, modularity, and onboard renewable generation to previously unused surface areas, converting them into productive renewable-energy assets — a practical contribution to the shift away from fossil dependence in maritime energy.
Grafmarine’s flagship technology, NanoDeck®, is a modular, PV platform designed to turn unused flat surfaces on vessels into intelligent renewable energy systems. By generating clean onboard power and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, NanoDeck® offers measurable operational benefits and supports vessels in meeting increasingly stringent well-to-wake climate requirements.
Developed for harsh marine environments, with four layers of redundancy, NanoDeck® delivers power directly into a vessel’s electricity grid. The turnkey system can be installed on existing vessels and new builds and, as a complementary solution, can be used in addition to any type of fuel. Preparing for further technological advances, the system can easily be upgraded with higher efficiency PV panels over time. Connected through Starlink, Grafmarine’s technology offers real-time insights about system performance, showing shipowners how fuel, emissions and costs are being reduced.
ZESTAs connects technology providers, shipowners, ports, policymakers, and energy innovators to accelerate the uptake of battery-electric, green hydrogen, and wind-propulsion solutions. Grafmarine’s membership strengthens this collaborative effort by adding a solution designed for practical integration into real-world maritime operations and Absolute Zero Emissions ecosystems.
Nigel Marc Roberts, Chief Executive Officer at Grafmarine, said: “Joining ZESTAs is a natural step for Grafmarine as we scale our impact across the maritime sector. The industry is at a turning point, and collaboration is key. We’re excited to contribute our technology and insights to a community that shares our commitment to zero-emission innovation, sustainability and the circular economy.”
Madadh MacLaine, Secretary General of ZESTAs, said: “We already have the technologies required to reach absolute zero emissions in maritime transport. What we need now is coordinated deployment. Grafmarine’s NanoDeck® adds another ready-to-use solution that strengthens the industry’s ability to act. We welcome their contribution as we continue driving the shift to absolute zero across vessels, ports, and supply chains.”
