Intra-Asia Container Index assessment for 02 Jan 2026
Drewry’s Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI) inched down 2% in the first week of January, reaching $700 per 40ft container. The IACI is a weighted average of spot rates across 18 major trade routes within Asia and is currently 15% lower YoY. Drewry expects freight rates to record a modest uptick in the coming weeks due to tight capacity during an extended peak season.

The Index, which will be updated weekly (from 02 Jan 26), consists of 18 route-specific indices representing individual shipping routes and a composite index. All indices are reported in USD per 40ft container.
