PPA S.A.: Publication of the 2024 Sustainability Report

Piraeus Port Authority S.A., with a steadfast focus on the sustainable development and ongoing modernization of the Port of Piraeus, adopts and implements a coherent set of rules, protocols, and initiatives related to Environment, Society, and Corporate Governance (ESG). Under this perspective, PPA S.A. published its 2024 Sustainability Report in accordance with the new European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), integrating the principles of accountability and transparency in all aspects of its operations.

Within the framework of its strategy for sustainable development and responsible corporate management, in 2024 PPA S.A. introduced a series of significant actions across the ESG pillars, reaffirming its commitment to a modern and resilient development model.

Notably, in 2024, the first phase of a specialized study aimed at strengthening the port’s resilience to climate change was completed, while in the near future, the measures for the port’s adaptation to climate change will be studied in detail. At the same time, an action plan for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions from the port was initiated, along with the operation of an electronic platform for environmental data monitoring and recording. Additionally, a noise mitigation plan was developed for the Container Terminal area and the network of air quality monitoring stations within the port was expanded.

In the field of Corporate Governance, fundamental Internal Regulations and Policies were issued and updated, ensuring the company’s transparency, accountability and regulatory compliance.

In the social sphere, it is noted that in 2024 the concession fee paid to the State exceeded 8 million euros, while donations and sponsorships within the framework of Corporate Social Responsibility surpassed 565,000.00 euros. Furthermore, the study and licensing of a modern park in the Cruise area, which will be constructed by PPA S.A., was finalized with the aim of addressing the needs of local communities. Simultaneously, PPA S.A.’s staff training hours increased by 31.6%, reflecting the company’s investment in its human capital and workforce.

The Chief Executive Officer of PPA S.A., Mr. Su Xudong, emphasized the importance of the Sustainability Report publication as a tool to record progress achieved, as well as a roadmap for the next steps in the port’s green development.

This consistent commitment to the principles of sustainability and excellence is reflected in the distinctions that PPA S.A. has received for 2024, including: The “Ferry Shipping Port of the Year 2024” award, recognition at the “Environmental Awards 2024” for its contribution to the circular economy, the “Compliance Awards 2024” for its regulatory compliance and transparency practices, as well as its distinction among the most sustainable companies in Greece.

The 2024 Sustainability Report, which is available on the PPA S.A. website, provides a detailed presentation of the company’s objectives, actions and performance, across each ESG pillar.
