Princess Cruises Ship Sails Through Rough Seas Amid Storm Floris

Storm Floris struck the U.K with powerful winds and heavy rain on August 4, 2025, leaving cruise ships sailing the British Isles Cruises battling the rough seas.

Many ships missed their ports of call while others sailed near Scotland through rough weather to get to calmer waters and avoid putting the cruise passengers in danger.

Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess cancelled two of its scheduled ports of call in northern Scotland to stay ahead of the Storm, but it had to sail through turbulent waters to avoid worse weather conditions.

Waves reaching 40 feet and winds with speeds of up to 90 miles per hour created rough conditions for some cruise ships.

According to a passenger onboard the Regal Princess, the ship experienced a 5 to 7 degree list when winds hit the vessel at 90 miles per hour.

The ship will skip Invergordon and will sail to Liverpool. Ships including Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam, Norwegian’s Dawn, Ambassador’s Ambience, and Seabourn Sojourn were also affected.
