Royal Caribbean Cruises cancelled scheduled visits to a private port in Haiti until next spring.

The cruise line has a stop in Labadee, on the northern coast.

A spokesperson for the cruise line said that the measure has been taken to practice caution, which is why upcoming visits through April 2026 have been paused.

The company has communicated with the guests regarding the matter.

The U.S Department of State moved Haiti’s travel advisory to a ‘Do not Travel’ country on July 15, 2025.

The advisory warned people not to travel to Haiti because of increased crime, terrorist activities, civil unrest, kidnapping and limited health care.

It read that American citizens have been victims and kidnappers demand ransoms. Families have paid thousands of dollars to release their loved ones.

Royal Caribbean has stops in Labadee, and its website reads that people can find pristine sands, coral reefs and lagoons nestled in jungle-covered hilltops.

It also read that Haiti has a fascinating culture, history and natural beauty waiting to be discovered.

Stewart Chiron, a cruise industry expert, said that 2025 will be another record year for the industry as he sees demand rising in the Caribbean, Alaska and Europe.

Per forecasts, 72% passengers plan to visit the Caribbean for sunny vacations.
