Russian-Backed Nayara Energy Exports First Gasoline Cargo Since EU Sanctions

Indian Refiner Nayar Energy exported its first cargo comprising gasoline since it was sanctioned by the European Union on July 18, 2025, per sources.

The tanker Tempest Dream, loaded with 43,000 metric tonnes or 363,350 barrels of gasoline, sailed on Monday.

The ship was sanctioned by Britain in June and is headed to Sohar, Oman, although information about the buyer could not be obtained.

A second ship, the Sard, is presently at the western Indian Port of Vadinar, used by Nayara, set to lift around 43,000 tons of diesel.

Nayara Energy was forced to decrease crude runs at its refinery in Vadinar with a capacity of 400,000 barrels due to issues in obtaining ships and selling fuel from the port because of sanctions.

The company operates 6600 fuel stations in India and has approached state fuel retailers for the domestic sale of products.
