The 20th Goodness Ship by Turkish Red Crescent (Kızılay), carrying 1400 tons of humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, has reached the Al-Arish Port in Egypt.
It is loaded with tents, winter wear, hygiene products and blankets for Palestinian who are forced to survive the harsh winter in tents, after losing everything in Israel’s attacks on Hamas, which have razed hospitals, homes, schools, and universities to the ground.
The ship, carrying other things like canned food, was welcomed by Egyptian officials, and Turkish ambassador to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen, members of the Turkish Red Crescent and Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The Turkish Red Crescent has sent many aid ships to Gaza, which reached Palestine safely.
The current ship reached at the time of the second stage in the Gaza cease-fire process, while the agency is planning to send more ships in the near future.
Sen also added that opening the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza would make the delivery of aid easier. He said that Turkiye is keen to help Gaza as much as it can.
He thanked Egypt for cooperating with it in this endeavour, which led to the fast delivery of the humanitarian aid products.
Several agencies have urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reopen Rafah.
Per reports, the crossing is likely to open in both directions in the coming week.
Netanyahu is critical of the Turkish role in Gaza, and despite U.S President Trump having invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to join the “Board of Peace.”
The reopening of Rafah is a part of the Gaza truce framework that was announced by Trump in October, but the crossing remained closed after Israeli forces took it under their control during the conflict.
Ali Shaath, who is the head of a committee comprising 15 Palestinian technocrats to oversee the administration of Gaza, said the gateway would reopen next week, adding that the crossing is a major entry point for aid to the 2.2 million residents.
A cease-fire has been in place in Gaza since October 10, 2026 and entered its second phase this month.
