Royal Caribbean’s new ship, the Star of the Seas, will sail from Florida on its maiden voyage, debuting as the largest cruise ship in the world along with its sister ship, the Icon of the Seas.

Its inaugural voyage would be a 7-night cruise through the Western Caribbean region. It will stop in Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Roatan, Honduras.

The behemoth has 20 decks and can accommodate 5610 guests at double occupancy and over 7000 at full capacity, and 2350 crew members.

It weighs 250,800 tonnes and is a little higher than the Icon of the Seas.

Star of the Seas has 8 themed neighbourhoods. Surfside is famous among families with young children, while Central Park is known for its entertainment and dining options.

At the heart of the ship is Aquadome, a 25 m high and 50 m wide glass structure designed for performances in the waters. Among its highlights is a specially adapted production called Back to the Future: The Musical.

The ship has 7 swimming pools, 6 waterslides, an ice rink, a laser tag, an escape room, a surf simulator and an aerial adventure course. Guests can choose from 40 restaurants and lounges, including the new Chicago-inspired Lincoln Park Supper Club.

Apart from the Star of the Seas, several other cruise ships are also set to be launched in 2025.

Disney Cruise Line will also launch its biggest ship, the Disney Adventure. At 208,000 tonnes, the ship is 342 m long and can accommodate 6000 guests.

It will also be Disney’s first fleet, which will be permanently based in Asia. The ship will operate from Singapore and offer 3 to 5-night voyages designed as parties at sea with no scheduled port calls.

The ship will feature the cruise line’s first-ever roller coaster at sea, 7 themed zones and a Marvel-style studio where everyone can enjoy superhero makeovers.

It also has Broadway-style stage productions and a range of suites and staterooms, including private hot tubs.

The cruise ship’s first voyage is scheduled for 15 December 2025, a 3-day inaugural trip from Singapore.

MSC World America is only a little smaller than Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class ships. It weighs 205,700 tonnes and spans 333 m.

It is the 2nd ship in the cruise line’s World-class series, after World Europa, which entered service in December 2022.

World America is bound for the U.S market. It will be launched in Miami and will operate alternating 7-night itineraries to the Eastern and Western Caribbean, with stops in Puerto Rico, Mexico, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.

World America has 22 decks, 19 restaurants, 20 bars and lounges, a waterpark and a Family Aventura theme park with the industry’s first over-water swings, plus shopping and live entertainment.
