Brunei LNG is conducting scheduled maintenance at its liquefied natural gas facility for a week, but production will not be impacted, a source said on Wednesday.

In a post on social media on Tuesday, the company said “operational activities are currently ongoing from 14 October 2025 until 21 October 2025,” though it did not say what the activities were.

Large flaring and black smoke are expected to be seen during the period, but the activity will have no impact on the public, it added.

A source familiar with the matter said the routine maintenance was planned ahead of time, though they declined to be identified as they were not authorised to speak with the media.

Brunei LNG did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Brunei LNG is 50% owned by the government of Brunei, while the rest is split equally between Japan’s Mitsubishi 8058 and Shell SHEL.

Its LNG plant has a capacity of 7.2 million metric tons a year. Brunei exported 4.9 million metric tons of LNG last year, according to data from analytics firm Kpler.
