Platts proposes to amend cargo size for Johan Castberg crude oil assessments to 800,000 barrels from Oct. 1

In line with evolving trends observed in the Johan Castberg loading schedule, Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to amend the cargo size reflected in its Johan Castberg crude oil assessments to 800,000 barrels, effective Oct. 1.

Recent Johan Castberg loading schedules have revealed uniform cargo sizes of 800,000 barrels, which are expected to establish a new standard volume for the grade, according to recent loading programs seen by Platts and feedback from market participants.

Accordingly, Platts proposes to amend the cargo sizes reflected in its Johan Castberg CIF Rotterdam assessments to 800,000 barrels. Platts currently reflects 700,000-barrel Johan Castberg parcels as standard in its assessments.

Platts launched its assessments for Johan Castberg on a CIF Rotterdam basis on June 23, 2025, available here(opens in a new tab). The assessment reflects cargoes for delivery into Rotterdam 12 days to one month ahead from assessment date and pricing five days after bill of lading as standard.
