A massive explosion and ensuing fire hit a Valero Energy Corporation (NYSE:VLO) oil refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, local media reports and social media footage of the incident showed on Monday.

Reports and social media posts showed a massive plume of smoke emerging from a fire at the refinery, while authorities issued a shelter-in-place order for some parts of the city.

The Valero facility is one of the largest oil refineries in the United States, with a reported capacity of about 380,000 barrels of oil per day.

It was not immediately clear whether production at the facility was impacted. Valero did not immediately respond to a mailed request for comment.
