Odfjell Oceanwind buys Ørsted’s stake in 100MW floating wind farm

Norwegian floating offshore wind specialist Odfjell Oceanwind has bought Ørsted`s 80% stake in the Salamander floating wind farm.

The other two shareholders in the project, Simply Blue Group and Subsea7, will retain their stakes in Salamander.

The trio will continue the development of the project into a demonstration project for a commercial-scale floating offshore wind.

Salamander is a 100MW floating offshore wind project in Scotland, located 35 km off Peterhead. The project was awarded an exclusivity agreement for a seabed lease by Crown Estate Scotland in the INTOG leasing round

“Innovation projects are essential to de-risk relevant floating offshore wind technologies and the supply chain before embarking on larger projects like those in ScotWind and many of the INTOG projects that are planned to be operational in the 2030s,” said Per Lund, CEO of Odfjell Oceanwind.
