LS duo picked for cabling work on South Korea’s biggest offshore wind farm

LS Cable & System and LS Marine Solutions have been selected as the preferred bidders for the supply and installation of submarine cables for the Haesong offshore wind farm, South Korea’s largest offshore wind development.

The two companies will carry out the entire process, from design to the production and laying of cables.

The Haesong offshore wind farm will be built at sea near Heuksando, comprising two 504MW offshore wind farms.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), a global green energy investment and development company, is responsible for investment and overall project management, while Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), an offshore wind power developer under CIP, is carrying out project development work, such as licensing and technology development.

LS Cable & System, in cooperation with CIP and COP, has successfully participated in the Changfang-Xidao and Zhong Neng offshore wind power projects in Taiwan, as well as on the Jeonnam 1 project in South Korea.

The company has also been selected as the preferred bidder for the Fengmiao offshore wind power project in Taiwan and the Taean offshore wind power project in Korea.

“This agreement is an important milestone for localising the offshore wind power industry and stabilising the supply chain,” said Kwon Ji-an, head of the supply chain strategy team and managing director of the Haesong Offshore Wind Power Co.
