ONE takes home new future fuel-converted boxship from Imabari

Container liner giant Ocean Network Express (ONE) has added to its management fleet portfolio a newly delivered boxship from Imabari Shipbuilding.

Imabari Shipbuilding, a big player in Japan’s maritime construction sector, has successfully delivered the ONE Sapphire, a containership with a 160,200-dwt.

The boxship was reportedly handed over on June 12 at a ceremony held at Imabari’s yard in Japan.

Specifically, the vessel is managed by Singapore-headquartered OneSea Solutions Pte. Ltd. (ONESEA), a solutions provider focused on technical ship management which is jointly owned and operated by Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Seaspan Corporation (SEASPAN).

ONESEA offers technical ship management services for container vessels owned by ONE and vessels chartered by ONE from vessel owners.

The Imabari’s containership is designed for fuel conversion in the future. This allows it to be converted to run on alternative fuels such as methanol and ammonia.

The newly delivered ship ONE Sapphire, outfitted with a suite of solutions, including energy-saving devices, is sailing under the flag of Singapore.

Ocean Network Express (ONE), headquartered in Singapore, operates a fleet of over 260 vessels with a capacity exceeding 2 million TEUs.
