Windcat, part of Saverys family-controlled CMB.TECH, has revealed that it will be adding to its fleet of commissioning service operation vessels (CSOV).

According to details revealed in CMB.TECH’s third-quarter results, Windcat has ordered one extra-large commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV XL) or more precisely, a multi-purpose accommodation service vessel

The vessel will be built by Damen Shipyards and delivered in 2028. Windcat has options for five more vessels of the same kind.

This new type of vessel is based on the concept of Windcat’s current CSOVs. The company currently only has one in its fleet, the Windcat Rotterdam, which was delivered over the summer.

The first CSOV series agreed with Damen was, over time, boosted to six. After the delivery of the Windcat Rotterdam, there are five more under construction. The 87 m long so-called ‘Elevation Series’ CSOVs will be able to accommodate 120 people on board.
