DeepOcean lands Taiwan wind cable job

DeepOcean has picked up a cable installation support contract on Taiwan’s TPC offshore wind farm phase two, marking another step in its expansion into the Asia-Pacific renewables market.

The ocean services provider will handle installation of inter-array cables linking turbines to offshore substations, alongside engineering and project management work.

Operations will be carried out with Taiwan-based Dong Fang Offshore, using the upgraded subsea vessel Orient Adventurer. The vessel has recently been fitted with new remotely operated vehicles, an under-deck carousel and a dedicated cable lay spread to support offshore cable work.

The contract adds to DeepOcean’s growing presence in Asia following its acquisition of Shelf Subsea last year, which gave the company a foothold in the region and access to local offshore energy markets.

Work on the project is set to begin immediately and run through 2026, with project management handled locally and supported by cable installation teams in Europe.

The TPC-II project is located off Changhua County on Taiwan’s west coast, around 6.5 to 20 km offshore. The 295MW wind farm will comprise 31 turbines installed on jacket foundations in waters ranging from 37 to 49 m deep.
