Drewry: The World Container Index increased 12% in week 20-2026 | Freight news

In accordance with the assessment of Drewry Supply Chain Advisors, the container rates last week turned to a fast-increasing tendency. As it is mentioned, their composite World Container Index increased by 12% to $2,553 per 40-foot container.

Freight rates from Shanghai to Rotterdam increased by 11% or $243 to $2,413, and Rotterdam to Shanghai increased by 2% or $13 to $644 per 40-foot container.

The rates from Shanghai to Genoa increased by 20% or $626 to $3,701, while Shanghai to Los Angeles increased by 10% or $295 to $3,357. As it is also reported, those on Shanghai to New York increased by 14% or $531 to $4,252 per 40-foot container.

Meanwhile, the rates from Los Angeles to Shanghai remained unchanged at $791, and Rotterdam to New York increased by 3% or $74 to $2,388 per FEU. Furthermore, the freight from New York to Rotterdam last week increased by 1% or $7 to $1,030 per 40-foot container.
