Baltic Dry Index Edges Down

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, fell about 0.2% to 2,095 points on Tuesday, following a 0.8% increase in the previous session.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, eased 0.5% to 3,194 points; and the supramax index fell 0.3% to 1,194 points.

Meanwhile, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose 0.4% to 1,792 points.
