Danish dry bulk operator Union Bulk has confirmed that chief executive Michael Bonderup is stepping down, marking another leadership change for the handysize and supramax specialist.

Bonderup, formerly head of handysize operator BaltNav, took over as CEO in November 2024, replacing Jens Riis Boesen.

Union Bulk said executive responsibility will now pass back to Boesen, who assumes the helm with immediate effect as the company moves into what it describes as the next phase of its development.

The Hellerup-based operator controls a fleet of between 15 and 25 vessels, spanning the handysize to supramax segments, and operates commercially out of offices in Copenhagen, Singapore and Hong Kong. The company stressed that day-to-day commercial and operational activities will continue unchanged across all locations.

“The owners remain committed to the company’s long-term strategy and to maintaining stable, reliable service forcustomers and partners. Further updates will be provided as appropriate,” Union Bulk said in a social media post on LinkedIn.
