French engineering group SPIE has signed a contract with EDF for the maintenance of the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm.
As the lead contractor for a consortium comprising Valemo and Services Voltige, Spie will be responsible for maintaining the foundations of the 80 wind turbines and the offshore electrical substation.
The contract begins in May 2026 and will last for an initial two-year term with an option to renew.
Comprising 80 wind turbines of 6MW each, with a total installed capacity of 480W, the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm is located between 12 and 20 km off the coast of Loire-Atlantique, covering an area of 78 sq km. It generates the equivalent of 700,000 people’s electricity consumption.
SPIE is responsible for the electrical and mechanical maintenance of the offshore electrical substation and the wind turbine foundations.
Together with Valemo and Services Voltige, the company will do a wide range of technical services, including rope access work, high- and low-voltage electrical work, work in confined spaces, quality inspections including fault analysis, and the annual inspection and verification of the foundations’ safety equipment.
