ONE to buy 30% stake in Hutchison Laemchabang terminal | Container news

Container liner giant Ocean Network Express (ONE) is buying a 30% stake in Hutchison Laemchabang Terminal Limited (HLT) located in Laem Chabang, Thailand.

“This acquisition secures long-term access to competitive terminal capacity, further strengthening our presence in ONE’s key strategic market,” noted the Singapore-headquartered shipping line.

The parties have signed a share purchase agreement, which is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.

HLT is an integral part of Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor and serves as a strategic gateway in Southeast Asia.

As the leading deep-water terminal operator in Laem Chabang Port, HLT runs the highly automated Terminal D, along with Terminals C1&C2 and A3, said ONE.

Hiroki Tsujii, global chief officer of ONE’s product & network division, noted: “Our investment in HLT marks a significant milestone in our strategy to secure capacity in key gateways globally.

“HLT’s industry-leading capabilities, as well as its commitment to advanced port technology align perfectly with ONE’s focus on operational excellence and innovation. By deepening our partnership with Hutchison Ports, customers can benefit from enhanced reliability and efficient solutions within this essential trade hub.”

Ocean Network Express (ONE) operates a fleet of over 260 vessels with a capacity exceeding 2 million TEUs. Through its extensive global network, ONE provides container shipping services to over 120 countries.
