U.S. crude oil inventories down last week

The American Petroleum Institute (API) on Tuesday reported a decrease of 577,000 barrels of crude oil in U.S. inventories for the week ending July 18.

The API reported a surge of 19.1 million barrels in the previous week.

Oil prices fell on Tuesday.

The West Texas Intermediate for August delivery dropped 1.47 percent to 66.21 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for September delivery lost 0.9 percent to settle at 68.59 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
