BW Group chairman Andreas Sohmen-Pao has boosted his control of Cadeler after a fresh share purchase lifted his stake in the Danish offshore wind vessel giant to more than 27%
BW Altor, a Singapore-based company ultimately controlled by Sohmen-Pao, acquired 17.5m Cadeler shares, according to a filing made under Danish disclosure rules. The transaction takes BW Altor’s holding to 96m shares, equal to 27.36% of Cadeler’s share capital and voting rights. Its previously reported stake stood at just over 20%.
Cadeler – listed in both Oslo and New York – is the world’s largest owner of wind turbine installation vessels and has been expanding aggressively to meet soaring demand from offshore wind developers. The company has grown its fleet from five to nine units this year and expects to operate 12 vessels by mid-2027.
The rapid scale-up is reflected in Cadeler’s earnings. The company booked revenue of 453m in the first nine months of 2025, up 178% year-on-year, driven by new tonnage entering the market and stronger day rates. BW Altor’s latest move cements Sohmen-Pao’s position as the company’s largest shareholder and underscores BW Group’s deepening commitment to offshore wind infrastructure as the sector prepares for a substantial build-out through the rest of the decade.
